The wave of depression swallows us. We struggle, swim, and surf in that wave. Depression and people both slowly soak into the other one’s life. In this work, depression is life's companion, not a disease. It is just like the endless stages of the video game. Animation Underwater is a story about Zeze, game player, surviving in the 'Underwater world'. The game is to become friends with creatures. Each stage refers to depression stages; low interest, insomnia, indecisiveness, fatigue and depressed mood. The reward, a paint gun's shape refers to GABA the neurotransmitter, which helps us to relax. The watch infers routine, an important factor to adapt life with depression. The thread and blue each symbolise world of people and depression. As a proof of a friend, he gives thread from body, a thread. The more he gives, the blue he gets. It visually shows adjustment. Research, design, filming, BGM composition and character voice acting is done by myself, while NPC voice acting is done by Typecast, and sound effects are from Freesound.
